It’s back…PUMPKIN SPICE season has hit the stores!   However, you can make your own right at home to enjoy anytime!   Here’s a basic pumpkin spice recipe that you can use in your latte, cooking or baking:

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground allspice

Instructions:

  1. Gather your spices: Make sure you have all the necessary spices on hand. You can use pre-ground spices, but for the freshest and most aromatic pumpkin spice, consider grinding your own whole spices.
  2. Measure the spices: Using measuring spoons, carefully measure out the quantities of each spice listed in the ingredients.
  3. Mix the spices: In a small bowl, combine all of the measured spices.
  4. Stir well: Use a spoon or a small whisk to thoroughly mix the spices together. Make sure they are evenly distributed to create a balanced pumpkin spice blend.
  5. Store: Transfer your homemade pumpkin spice blend to an airtight container, such as a glass jar with a lid. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored pumpkin spice can last for several months, but for the freshest flavor, try to use it within a couple of months.
  6. Use in recipes: Use your homemade pumpkin spice blend in various recipes, such as pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pancakes, or even sprinkle a little on top of your morning oatmeal or yogurt for a seasonal twist.

Feel free to adjust the quantities of individual spices to suit your taste preferences. Some people like a stronger cinnamon flavor, while others prefer a bit more nutmeg or ginger. Homemade pumpkin spice allows you to customize the blend to your liking.

Enjoy the warm and comforting flavors of fall with your homemade pumpkin spice!
