When you’re busy packing for a hike, sometimes it’s easy to overlook things. You’ve got the adrenaline going because you are SUPER excited to get out there, and maybe you’re not quite that focused because maybe its your very first hike! And if that’s not enough, you’ve got that checklist to go over as well.

So lets take a gander at some of the essentials you’ll need for a light to medium day hike.

  • The backpack. Do you have it? WHERE IS – oh there it is. Now lets fill it.
  • The Compass. You wont need the compass right? You’ve got your smartphone. Just kidding, bring the compass
  • Change of clothes.  Some people say it’s bad luck to bring a change of clothes, but in the end it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  • Food. Whether its granola, oats, energy bars, or beef jerky – always remember to bring a source of fuel
  • Hydration. This is very key. Water is your best friend out there, so make sure you bring enough. You can also bring Gatorade as well if you want to kick it up a notch.
  • Hiking shoes. You are going to need some hiking shoes my friend. If you’re a novice hiker going out for a long hike, your feet are going to let you know how they feel about you. So make sure you take care of them with some shoes or boots that fit.

If a hike is in your future and you want to research the perfect back pack or hiking boot, we highly recommend you do!

You can get everything you need to visit all of these beautiful places from Campers Village.
